The work dilemmas accumulate is based on a text, juxtaposed to a series of images. The images are archetypical motives taken from the ESA-Archive. Astronauts in an optimistical pose are floating in a corridor or room are photographed. All images have a typical renaissance-style one-point perspective.
The text is domineted by the inner monologue of an unnamed person, that is or seems to be part of the ISS-Crew and finds him or herself in a version of the International Space Station. Without any concept of Zero Gravity and the nothingness out there the subject has to cope with an environment as if it was born into it.
It begins to conceive the darkness, seen through the window, as a black solid mass, in which the space station is molded. The crew memebers imagine wrinkles and shoals in it and become imbogged in ever stranger conclusions about tht nature of their surrounding world. Their lack of existential knowledge makes them live through a new, private Dark Age. Every gain in enlightenment about the medium in which they are floating is paid by a decomposition of cognitive abilities. Words like Up, Down, Inside, Outside, By become taboos or simply lost until language itself
is brought to a collapse.
Dream, reality, truth and lie loose there meaning as inner coordinates. In part II the narrator falls for his or her own visions. Doesen´t know anymore if he or she has been alone all the time. Arctic apes, disappearing crewmembers and radio-messages from the Voyager 2 probe from the fringes of our solar system begin to impose an eerie unrest
on the decomposed subject until, in Part III only one sentence from the deepths of it´s unconcious recurs.
The dilemmas accumulate-cycle consists of print editions, a 3-part book, a video work and a radio play.
It had it´s premiere at the A! Performance Festival in Reykiavik was shown at Tiefgarage in Cologne, Ebertplatz as an installattion. The last broadcasts have benn at .otic-Radio Cologne, Radiophrenia Glasgow and at Galerie Raum mit Licht.
