The end of dying is a work revolving around on a text from 2018. It is an outcome based on a research on dying shopping malls and the tropes of fever dream induced micropsia/macropsia, better known as Alice in Wonderland Syndrome. A book, a radio play in two languages and a soundtrack production next to a series of prints are the material outcome of this.
On the image-layer the work consists on granite pools from a shopping mall in Texas, in which Seramis-Clay Pebbles are the main turf for succulents of all kind. The text is an inner monologue based on dream-protocols by
the author and found footage from dream-forums. During the course of 7 days the dreamer descents a negative
landscape without the slightest knowledge on his or her past or reason of the actual presence. The only human
person is a small boy. It is not known if the boy is real or just a folding of the dreamer´s personality. It is unknown if there has ever been a world apart from the one described, if there is a before or after the dream. The premises of the monologues that take place seem to change rapidly and constantly. The listener seems to live through traumatic experiences of varying persons from vastliy different times and places. In the process dreamer and the small boy begin to coalesce into each other, so narrator and perpetrator of the dream tropes begin to become one person.
The end of dying had it´s premiere at the Institut für Betrachtung-Show at Dublab-Radio in Cologne. The english version was broadcasted combined with an in situ installation at dublab US in Los Angeles. The work was shown at Hilbertraum in Berlin as a video work and is at the moment shown at Gallery Raum mit Licht in Vienna.
